In no particular order, we’ve lined up North Adelaide’s top wine bars for you to explore upon your next escape to the world’s 5th most livable city.
Bar 129
Bar 129’s enviable drinks menu is sure to please everyone. Offering the finest whisky and spirits from around the world, to local craft beers and of course, quality wines. Enjoy something local and South Australian or take a trip to Italy as you sit on a dry, fruity and intense Sangiovese. Being South Australian, we get excited about seeing the premium wine list primarily made up of South Australian wines. And naturally, we get excited about seeing a bottle of 2013 Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon listed, but can you blame us?
The Lion Restaurant
The Lion Restaurant is somewhere you’ll want to stop to wine and dine. The superb service is undeniable and the extensive selection of fine wines on offer will pair just nicely with anything off the menu. When we say fine wine, think champagne from Reims or Mareuil-sur-Ay, France or cabernet sauvignon from South Australia’s own Coonawarra. And that’s just a small taste of what to expect! For a more relaxed and casual drink, visit the Lion Bar.
The Pink Pig Wine Bar
The Pink Pig Wine Bar is known for their famous ribs, pork dishes and award-winning steaks but all steaks aside, their comprehensive wine selection is something to endeavour. Encompassing a South Australian line up, take your tastebuds on an epicurean journey from the Clare Valley, Barossa Valley to the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and the iconic Coonawarra.
For something extra special, ask the wait staff for their Cellar Reserve list and grace your eyes on a bottle of Penfolds St. Henri shiraz or Grange Bin 95.
Cliché Exhibition
Envie de vin? Oui!
Dine if you wish, but most importantly… the French inspired wine list at Cliché Exhibition will have you sipping away on the finest champagne, chablis and gamay imported from the motherland, France. And to finish off your evening, enjoy a nip of Cognac. Neat.
We highly encourage drinking and not driving, so stay nearby and stroll home before the sun comes to rise.
Where to stay? The Adelaide Meridien Hotel & Apartments is located a short 5-minute taxi ride from North Adelaide’s O’Connell Street dining precinct.
